1942 Harley-Davidson WLA
I retired from the Marines and joined the US Foreign Service. I was stationed at the US Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand when I found my Harley Davidson 42WLA. Made in Milwaukee it was sent to the USSR during WWII under the Lend-Lease program. In 2005 it was found in a warehouse in Tashkent, Uzbekistan by an employee of the US Embassy. He brought it with him on transfer to Wellington where he worked to restore it. I purchased it from him, completed the restoration, and drove it on the island for two years before I transferred back to the USA. In slightly over 60 years this Harley completed a trip around the world and is now home in North Carolina.
