The Cross Country Chase Announces 2021 Event

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 27, 2021 – Sturgis, SD: The Cross Country Chase is pleased to announce the 2021 competition, called the “Mini Chase-Secrets of the Ozarks.” This event will take place July 5th to July 10th and will be different from the inaugural event in 2019 as it is shorter and will begin and end in the same spot, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Presented by the Legendary Motorcycle Cannonball, the Cross Country Chase Powered by Law Tigers is a test of Endurance, Speed, Navigation, and Knowledge.
Endurance: Riders and Machines will compete an average of 250 miles per day over a 5-day period. Riders and Machines could endure fatigue, mental exhaustion, cold, heat, elevations, and all the ferocious elements of Mother Nature. Riders will navigate the course of The Cross Country Chase on their own, no support crews of any kind will be allowed during the event. Riders will have to think about what they need to pack to make it the duration; tools, parts, and luggage must be packed on your motorcycle. It is just you, your motorcycle, and some of the best 2-lane roads of North America.
Speed: Riders and Machines will be challenged to complete stages in a timed fashion, which will require maintaining certain speeds, strategically planned stops, and managing time throughout the day to check in to the final daily checkpoint at the required time.
Navigation: Riders will have to successfully navigate the 5-day, 1,340 mile route without going off course or getting lost. The Cross Country Chase will provide riders with a Navigation Map each morning that will give turn-by-turn instructions based on mileage.
Knowledge: Riders will be given a 60-question quiz that will cover aspects of the route and American Motorcycling history. This will count towards each rider’s final score.
Qualifying Motorcycles:
- Manufactured between 1930-1960
- Motorcycle will be handicapped on the following:
- Age: The older the motorcycle, the higher it will be handicapped.
- Engine Displacement: Motorcycles with smaller displacement engines will be handicapped higher than motorcycles with higher displacement.
- Must have Original Engine Cases
- Must Have Original Transmission Cases (No Late model Transmissions)
- Period Correct Carburetors (No Late Model Mikunies, S&S, etc)
Riders: Age: 18 and older
