1942 Harley Davidson WLA

I retired from the Marines and joined the US Foreign Service. I was stationed at
the Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand when I found my Harley Davidson
42WLA. Made in Milwaukee it was sent to the USSR under the Lend-Lease
program. In 2005 it was found in a warehouse in Tashkent, Uzbekistan by an
employee of the US Embassy. Another employee brought it to Wellington were
he worked to restore it. I purchased it from him and completed the restoration
before I transferred back to the USA. In slightly over 60 years this Harley
completed a trip literally around the world and is now home in North Carolina. It
competed in the 2021 Cross Country Chase, Secrets of the Ozarks, with limited
success, crossing the finish line on the sweep trailer. We are back in 2022 with a
rebuilt transmission and intend to make every mile.
